Siskins 2nd Annual “Clarke Young Night” - 2 weeks away – Fri. Feb. 19

As the Waterloo Siskins strive to continue their on-ice triumphs, off-ice success is anticipated as well for the 2nd annual “Clarke Young Benefit” game.

“Clarke Young Benefit Night”, as Siskins face rival Cambridge Winterhawks, is scheduled for:

 

Date – Friday February 19 – Game time – 7:30 pm

Location - Sun Life Arena, Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex

 

CLARKE YOUNG - Clarke, son of Robert and Denise Young and brother to Caroline and Matthew, died overnight suddenly on August 22, 2008 at the age of 11. Clarke was an enthused and skilled minor hockey player serving as the team captain of the Waterloo Wolves AA Atom hockey team. In honour of his leadership role, the Wolves have named a trophy -  the Clarke Young Trophy, awarded to the most dedicated player on the Waterloo Wolves Minor Peewee AA/A team.

 

LEGACY FUND - The Clarke Young Legacy Fund, administered by the Waterloo Region Catholic Schools Foundation, provides funds to children who require financial assistance to pursue their dreams in athletics.

Last year, through a combination of generous donations, raffles, a silent auction and other promotions, $70,000 was donated to establish the legacy fund. Direct donations can be made at this year’s game, or by contacting the Foundation directly a 519-578-3660 Ext. #2324 or visit the foundation website at  www.wrcsf.ca

REQUEST FOR ITEMS - Donated items for the raffle, silent auction etc. can be dropped off at the office of Dundee Insurance Agency, 550 Parkside Dr., Unit C-10, Waterloo or the Siskins Board Room.

As Siskins (42-35-6-1 = 71 points) head into the final month of the regular schedule, with nine games to play (five at home), they trail the league leading Brantford Golden Eagles (44-35-5-4 = 74 points) by 3 points, with two games in hand.

Sun. Feb. 14 – 7:00 pm – Kitchener

Fri. Feb. 19 – 7:30 pm – Cambridge – “Clarke Young Benefit Night”

Sun. Feb. 28 – 1:30 pm – Kitchener

And a key road game on Saturday Feb. 27 at Brantford (7:30 pm)
